If the Fountain of Youth were true, us women would surely bathe in there and never leave. There isn’t any short cuts to looking good and looking much younger than your age. It’s easy to fall prey, though, to cosmetic surgeries and other expensive beauty enhancements. While those aren’t necessarily bad, you will be much better off taking the longer route – the natural and inexpensive way. After all, it’s much more fulfilling to work your way towards looking younger and more beautiful.
Check out these easy-to-follow tips to help you look and feel a decade younger.
Give your hair a makeover
If you’ve been wearing your hair long since the beginning of time, maybe it’s time to give it the boot. Go for shorter locks to give your hair more body and volume. This is particularly recommended if you have thinning hair.
While you’re at it, why not give your crowning glory a color boost? Hair color is the perfect way to update your look and make yourself look fresher and younger. Go for lighter hair color if you naturally have dark hair. Softening your hair color also softens your facial features.
Go for thicker brows
Fuller brows are common on younger women, so thickening your pale, thin eyebrows and dying them with a much darker color will boost your youthful factor.
Take care of your face
Wrinkles and age spots are visible signs of aging. Prevent these by cleansing your face religiously with a mild facial cleanser that not only deeply cleans but also moisturizes your skin. Cleansing also rids your face of any harsh chemicals from makeup that may cause aging. Don’t use cleansers that may dry out your skin, as dry skin causes you to age much faster.
After cleansing, make it a habit to exfoliate your skin. Exfoliation helps remove any deep-seated dirt and makes your skin feel fresher, softer, and smoother. After a good exfoliation, consider using an anti-aging moisturizer to deeply nourish your skin while keeping your youthful glow.
Use sun protection
The harmful rays of the sun can cause premature aging of the skin. Shield your skin from damaging UV rays by using a sunblock with a high SPF (sun protection factor) rating. Wear sunscreen with an SPF of at least 15 before stepping out into the sun. You may want to consider using moisturizers with SPF that not only protects your skin from the sun but also keeps your face from drying out.
Wear makeup the right way
Makeup helps enhance your facial features but if worn the wrong way, it can make you look rather older than your age. Start with using the right foundation: a cream or stick foundation is much better than powder as it blends well, especially on dry skin. To hide blemishes or dark areas under your eyes, go for concealers with a salmon color, which help neutralize the blue in the under-eye area. When choosing lipsticks, pick those that can give your puckers a dewy look like glossy lippies. Never wear dark lipsticks as these only accentuate thinness rather than giving your lips a pouty look.
